C.A.R.E. Ministry
Comfort • Assist • Relieve • Evangelize
The aim of C.A.R.E. ministry at Eternal is to help people in the Eternal community in a practical way in keeping with the parable of the Good Samaritan told by Jesus in Luke 10. This ministry is under the oversight of the Eternal Diaconate.
In practice this ministry takes the form of a group of volunteers who have expressed a desire to help people in need. This help can be anything from baking cakes to fixing a leaky faucet. Needs within the church can be brought to the attention of the deacons or ministry leaders who then ask the appropriate volunteers for assistance. Furthermore, Eternal partners with several local non-profit ministries in an effort to best serve the community.
Volunteers will be asked to fill out a survey form that will assist the deacons/ministry leaders when matching a need with the right volunteers.
What kinds of help can we offer? The list is almost endless, but here are some suggestions:
- Grocery shopping or providing meals for new mothers or families with illness
- Tutoring in school work
- Visiting the lonely, shut in, or sick
- Comforting the mourning
- Yard work or home repairs
- Assisting someone with basic family budgeting or financial planning
It should be made clear that volunteers are not expected to act as professional counselors, attorneys, tax advisors, or medical personnel.
Anyone who wants to be a volunteer can complete the survey form and then meet with one of the C.A.R.E. team leaders who will answer any questions.
Please note-if volunteer work involves minors a background check is required.
